In the wake of the COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter pandemics, there has been an increasing interest in corporate diversity and inclusion outreach, including many company D&I initiatives and recent hires of key executive diversity officers and board members. From the deaths of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, to the most recent “phone incident” profiling by Miya Ponsetto and the contrasting approach taken by the police regarding the January 6th insurrection – there has been a growing sentimental recognition by the mainstream media that “black lives matter.” Our esteemed General Counsel panelists will discuss how they have been impacted by and responding to (publicly and internally) the Black Lives Matter movement from a corporate perspective, whether the COVID-19 pandemic has stymied or triggered more attention to diversity interests, and whether and how corporate diversity efforts are becoming more intentional and sustainable long-term.
