What advice would you offer to new attorneys interested in your field?

Maintain an insatiable curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies and critically examine how they impact people and business.  Master the technical aspects of the job, but work to become the strategic advisor that people call on in the best of times and the worst of times, not just as an expert in your field, but as someone who can bring a practical perspective and provide advice in context.  Be sure to pay attention to detail, but don’t miss the forest for the trees.

Final thoughts…

It has been a pleasure serving on the Executive Committee of the NBA Commercial Law Section, currently as Chair.  Special thanks to all those who participated in our 34th Annual Corporate Counsel Conference in February – our first virtual conference.  Continue to inspire and to be inspired.  I look forward to continuing the work with you and others on enhancing equity, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
